Vision Statement

"Newpark Close Family Resource Centre..... Building an integrated and welcoming community, where families and individuals will have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Mission Statement

"Newpark Close Family Resource Centre will work closely with the community to strengthen participation, equality and positive outcomes for all families and individuals by working from the guiding principles of Community Development and Family Support Practice.

Guiding Principles

"Newpark Close Family resource Centre is committed to working from the principles of equality and will not tolerate any acts of discrimination, especially those based on the 9 grounds outlined in the 1998 Equal Status Act. These principles under-pin how the Centre operates in partnership, empowerment, equality, openness, and accountability, respectfulness and trust."

History

Newpark Close Family Resource Centre is a community centre which was built in 1976 to provide services and support for families living in the housing estate of the same name, and the local area surrounding it, primarily to address the needs of children in the area, and also to eliminate the sense of isolation and social exclusion that some residents who were moved into the estate began to experience.

Due to its longevity, a trust has been built up between us and the community, and our centre is viewed as a safe and supportive place to come when difficulties occur. Our staff are well known to local people, which helps us to provide more in-depth support with families when addressing difficulties, and preserves the positive relationship we have with the community.

We also engage pro-actively in networking at local, regional and national level in raising the reputation of the F.R.C., accessing new
opportunities for the community and influencing policy and action in addressing dis-advantage and poverty.

In addition to our services and supports for the families, we are also very involved in the work of the local Residents Group. This work involves us in supporting individual families and the entire community with Kilkenny County Council over issues in relation to accommodation and the re-generation of the area.

Our work is the result of over 40 years of dedicated voluntary commitment from the community, which has now also crossed into the next generation of new up and coming community activists. Over this 40 years, Newpark Close Family Resource Centre has grown from a small community centre to a thriving and busy centre which achieves the highest standard of management and organisational development.
We confirm that our organisation complies with The Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary and Charitable Sector in Ireland.
The company keeps full records of all financial matters and these records can be accessed by prior arrangement.
