BENEFIT 4 Grant Scheme
BENEFIT 4 is a computer training programme aimed at those who have basic/no experience with computers and the internet. Those unemployed, over the age of 55, or in receipt of a Social Welfare payment are eligible to take part in this programme.
Participants will be educated in the following:
Internet and Email Training
Introduction to the use of government services online
Introduction to Digital Photography
Introduction to using the internet for voice/video communications
Introduction to online banking

Participants will be educated in the following:
Internet and Email Training
- Set up own personal Email address
- Send and receive Email - including with an attachment
- Use a search engine to search the internet using a subject of their own choice and accessing resulting websites
- Conduct at least one simple "transaction" online. Suggested transactions include:- buy/reserve something, book a ticket, pay a bill, reserve a library book or check that they are on the electoral register
Introduction to the use of government services online
- Understand how to use at least 1 online government transaction service (e.g. Motor tax online, check the register, etc.)
Introduction to Digital Photography
- An introduction to digital photography to be trained and assisted in understanding the basics of how to use a digital camera to take a photo and how to upload it to a computer.
Introduction to using the internet for voice/video communications
- Skype
Introduction to online banking
- Understand the process and the security safeguards explained and demonstrated
