Junior Litter Wardens- looking for new members aged 7 to 15 years

The Newpark Close Family Resource Centre is delighted to be involved in an innovative Junior Litter Warden project in their neighborhood. This initiative, the first of its kind in the county,   invokes a sense of civic responsibility and aims to inform and inspire participants. With the supervision of local community activist Nora Webster and staff member Frank Cody , a group of 15 volunteers aged 6 to 12, are involved in a weekly clean- up of the estate. To everyone’s satisfaction, there is already a waiting list of enthusiastic young people willing to continue the enterprise.

In 2013, the endeavor of the Junior Litter Wardens was honored when they received a special award from the Keep Kilkenny Beautiful committee recognizing their “Outstanding Contribution to the Community” .  Further commendation came in October 2014 when Chairperson of Keep Kilkenny Beautiful committee, Cllr. David Fitzgerald presented the Junior Litter Wardens with certificates to mark the role played by the group in Kilkenny’s success in the recent Tidy Towns.
